
GRAND JUNCTION, CO — Two men were arrested Wednesday after allegedly kidnapping an individual under the guise of a job offer and forcing them to cash fraudulent checks at multiple banks.
On June 2, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Grand Junction Police Department officers responded to a reported suspicious incident in the 700 block of Horizon Drive. The reporting party told officers he was approached by an adult male who offered him a job that ultimately involved suspected fraudulent checks.
During the investigation, officers determined the victim was approached while walking along Horizon Drive. The individual became suspicious of illegal activity and fearful for his life after the suspect and a second male drove him to multiple banks, where he was instructed to cash checks for large sums of money.


On June 3, officers arrested the two suspects, identified as Fabian Boston, 34, and Stantrevius Cook, 30. Both men were transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility and booked on the following charges:
- Second-Degree Kidnapping
- Criminal Possession or Sale of a Blank Financial Transaction
- Theft ($5,000 – $20,000)
- Forgery/Counterfeiting – Unlawful Manufacture of a Financial Transaction Device (38 Counts)
- Criminal Possession of Forgery Devices
Additionally, Boston was booked on an outstanding felony warrant.
