Man Arrested After Crossbow Shooting in Clifton

CLIFTON, CO — A 47-year-old Clifton man was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly shooting another man with a crossbow on Cougar Run Court.

On June 16, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported shooting incident in the 400 block of Cougar Run Court.

During the investigation, authorities identified the suspect as Curtis Fryer, 47, of Clifton, and determined a crossbow was used during the altercation. The adult male victim initially left the residence to self-transport for medical care. He was later evaluated en route and transported to a local hospital by personnel from the Clifton Fire Department.

Fryer was arrested without incident and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked on the following charges:

  • First-Degree Assault – Intent to Cause Serious Bodily Injury with a Deadly Weapon (Class 3 Felony)
  • Menacing – Real/Simulated Weapon (Two Counts, Class 5 Felony)
  • Reckless Endangerment (Class 2 Misdemeanor)
