Stabbing, North Ave & N 7th St

A reported stabbing was dispatched around 6:30 p.m. at the Dairy Queen, 709 North Avenue, with Grand Junction police and fire/EMS units responding. Callers reported a man acting erratically inside the restaurant and armed with a knife.

Radio traffic indicated at least one male with a laceration was on scene and that crews staged ambulances; one transmission referenced two injured subjects and additional ambulance staging was requested. Officers reported the suspect ran from the lobby and that a vehicle believed to be associated with the suspect was being held at gunpoint. A separate radio transmission said the suspect may have been shot by police. One officer reported he discharged his firearm at the suspect.

Suspect vehicle fled westbound at North Avenue and caused a rollover vehicle crash at North 1st St. Police have the suspect at gunpoint again at North 1st Street and North Avenue.

Police are requesting an ambulance at North 1st Street for a male with a gunshot to the chest and torso area. The male is unresponsive and officers are starting CPR.

Update 7:30 p.m.: Law enforcement released a statement that there is no longer any threat to the public related to this incident.
