A structure fire was reported around 2:00 p.m. in the 2800 block of C 1/2 Road after dispatchers received multiple reports of heavy flames. Multiple fire and EMS units and police responded; first-arriving crews reported a single-story, single-family residence with an involved vehicle and large flames from brush and debris on fire.
Radio traffic indicated nearby houses were being evacuated as propane tanks at the scene were exploding, creating a safety hazard. Responders advised incoming units to approach from the east; the first engine was directed to the alpha side to pull an attack line while a second unit was assigned to locate a hydrant.
Crews are working through lots of debris and brush fueling the fire. No injuries were currently reported.

GRAND JUNCTION, CO — Grand Junction firefighters battled a significant structure fire Monday afternoon that involved a home, multiple vehicles, trailers, and surrounding trees.
On June 22, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a residential fire in the 2800 block of C ½ Road.
Grand Junction Police Department officers arrived on the scene first but were unable to safely access the home due to the intensity of the flames. Law enforcement closed C ½ Road to ensure public safety while fire crews deployed multiple hose lines across the narrow roadway.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions and worked in extreme heat to contain the blaze and extinguish the numerous items involved.
Authorities confirmed that one cat died as a result of the fire, but no other injuries have been reported. The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation. The Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control and scene safety throughout the incident.
