A two-vehicle rear-end crash was reported around 9:49 p.m. at D 1/2 Road and 33 Road. Fire and EMS units responded with lights and sirens and Mesa County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched; State Patrol was also notified.
Radio traffic described a Chevy pickup striking SUV rear ended by a white Audi. An 18-year-old female was reported conscious and breathing and complained of head pain; Ambulance 23 was en route to evaluate her. Responders said both east- and westbound lanes were blocked by debris and one vehicle may have been leaking fluid. Radio traffic also indicated one male driver fled the scene on foot; he was described as roughly 60–70 years old, with a scruffy beard and long hair, wearing a dark tank top or possibly a pink top and shorts. Tow trucks were contacted and deputies remained on scene investigating.
