Fire crews responded shortly before 10:05 p.m. to reports of a brush fire in the 100 block of Columbine Drive. Multiple fire units, including Engine 5, Engine 3, Truck 1, Brush 4 and Brush 5, were dispatched and en route to the scene.

Radio traffic indicated the blaze started in a large juniper bush on the south side of the property and was nearing a wooden fence. Crews reported heavy flames and medium fuels burning, had a hose on the fire and were pulling a line to extinguish it. The fire was reported to be threatening the fence but had not extended into any structures; callers suggested it may have been started by a firework, which remains unconfirmed.

Engine 5 and Brush 5 crews made quick work of the fire and are reporting its almost extinguished. Other responding units were canceled from the dispatch.
