MESA COUNTY, CO — The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office has released a summary of recent notable arrests, highlighting multiple cases involving domestic violence, protection order violations, and driving under the influence.

Suspect Jailed on Multiple Warrants and Protection Order Violations
On Friday, July 24, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Grand Junction Police Department officers arrested Nolan Hall, 29, in the 1900 block of Grand Avenue. Hall was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on a warrant issued by the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office, as well as multiple Mesa County Sheriff’s Office warrants for protection order violations and telephone harassment threats stemming from July 7 and July 18.
Hall had previously been arrested on June 14 after being located at a Grand Junction address he was legally banned from. He remains in custody on a $20,200 cash-only bond.
Woman Arrested Following Friday Night Domestic Assault
On Friday, July 24, at approximately 9:30 p.m., deputies responded to a reported assault near Fruitvale Court and the I-70 Business Loop Frontage Road. Deputies located a vehicle with a broken windshield and an adult male victim with injuries consistent with a physical assault.
Genevieve Mata, 24, of Grand Junction, was identified as the suspect and arrested without incident. She was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on charges of Third-Degree Assault, Criminal Mischief ($300–$1,000), and Domestic Violence.
Multiple Responses Lead to Arrest for Protection Order Violations
On Saturday, July 25, deputies responded twice—at 12:20 p.m. and again at 5:30 p.m.—to the 600 block of Jason Lane regarding a protection order violation. While the suspect, Daniel Schneider, 22, of Grand Junction, was not located during the first visit, deputies successfully found and arrested him during the second response.
Schneider, who had been arrested for violating a protection order at the same address twice in June, was transported to jail. He faces two counts of Violation of a Protection Order and one count of Obstructing a Peace Officer.
Driver Found Unresponsive in Traffic Arrested for DUI
On Sunday, July 26, around noon, deputies responded to reports of a vehicle stopped in the roadway at the I-70 Business Loop and 32 Road in Clifton. Witnesses reported the driver appeared to be having a medical episode.
Upon arrival, deputies found the driver, Matthew Lyman, 36, of Clifton, initially unresponsive and smelling strongly of alcohol. After safely moving the vehicle out of traffic, Lyman was transported to the detention facility where a breath test registered more than double the legal limit. He was booked on charges of DUI / Per Se (.08 or higher), DUI, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.
DeBeque Welfare Check Leads to Chase, Threats, and DUI Arrest
On June 26, at approximately 4:30 p.m., deputies responding to a welfare check in the 4000 block of Horse Canyon Road in DeBeque attempted to stop a vehicle that nearly crashed. The driver fled the scene on foot but was later found hiding in pinyon trees and sagebrush, where she initially claimed to have a gun and threatened to shoot deputies.
The suspect, Casey Mathis, 35, of Grand Junction, was arrested without incident but remained uncooperative during transport to the jail. She was booked on four active warrants, DUI, Careless Driving, Violation of a Protection Order, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing a Peace Officer.
