MESA COUNTY, CO — The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office made three separate arrests early this week stemming from investigations into domestic violence and protection order violations in Grand Junction and Clifton.

Woman Arrested for False Imprisonment Following Dispute
On Monday, July 27, at approximately 10:15 p.m., deputies responded to a report of an in-progress harassment in the 2900 block of Orchard Avenue in Grand Junction. Upon arrival, deputies met with an adult female and male. During the investigation, deputies determined the female suspect prevented the male from leaving the residence and that physical contact was made during the dispute.
The suspect, Jensyn Zotto, 24, was taken into custody and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility. She was booked on charges of False Imprisonment (Misdemeanor 2), Harassment – Strike, Shove, Kick (Misdemeanor 1), and Domestic Violence.
Protection Order Violation Leads to Arrest and Drug Charge
On Tuesday, July 28, at approximately 8:50 a.m., deputies were dispatched regarding a restraining order violation in the 3200 block of Main Street in Clifton. Investigators determined that a mandatory no-contact order was in place, and the victim provided evidence of a violation by the suspect.
Deputies later located the suspect, identified as Stephen Cates, 34, in the 2600 block of Applewood Place in Grand Junction. During a search subsequent to his arrest, deputies found a suspected methamphetamine pipe in his possession. Cates was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on charges of Violation of a Protection Order (Misdemeanor 2) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Petty Offense).
Man Jailed Following Domestic Assault
Later on Tuesday, July 28, at approximately 12:45 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a report of an assault that had just occurred in the 400 block of Bing Street. Upon arrival, deputies were met outside by an adult female with visible injuries. Authorities noted that multiple children were inside the residence at the time of the incident.
The suspect, Justin Shaw, 28, of Grand Junction, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on charges of Third-Degree Assault (Misdemeanor 1), Domestic Violence, and three counts of Child Abuse – Knowingly/Reckless with No Injury (Misdemeanor 2).
