A shooting was reported about 8:15 p.m. in the 400 block of West Scenic Drive. Mesa County sheriff’s deputies responded with lights and sirens, and fire/EMS units staged in the area. Radio traffic indicated a male subject was shot in the lower left abdomen and was conscious and breathing.
Live scanner traffic relayed that the reporting party described the incident as a single-entry, no-exit wound and said the male may have been shot while possibly attempting to break into the residence, which is unconfirmed. Responders advised a firearm was believed to be inside the home and that property owners planned to meet deputies at the end of the driveway.
Emergency crews are transporting the male victim to the hospital and law enforcement is investigating.
