
GRAND JUNCTION, CO — Four teens, including an 18-year-old and three juveniles, were arrested Wednesday morning in connection with an overnight burglary and vandalism incident at East Middle School.
On Tuesday, July 28, at approximately 11 a.m., Grand Junction Police Department officers were dispatched to East Middle School in the 800 block of Gunnison Avenue for a reported break-in.
The reporting party told dispatchers that the building had been breached and vandalized overnight. Investigators determined that the suspects forced entry into the school, discharged fire extinguishers inside the building, and spray-painted an exterior wall.
Surveillance footage captured four individuals vandalizing the property, allowing officers to identify the suspects and obtain arrest warrants. On Wednesday morning, July 29, officers contacted all four suspects and took them into custody.
Jayden Cordova, 18, was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility and booked on the following charges:
- Second-Degree Burglary
- Criminal Mischief
- First-Degree Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor
- Obstruction of a Peace Officer
Three 16-year-old juveniles were also arrested and charged with Second-Degree Burglary and Criminal Mischief. One of the juveniles faces an additional charge of Theft for allegedly stealing a baseball bat from the school.
