MESA COUNTY, CO — The Mesa County Commissioners have approved a $2.2 million contract to replace the aging air conditioning and heating system at the Mesa County Justice Center.
During a public hearing on Tuesday, August 11, commissioners awarded the $2,223,684 contract to Comfort Air of Grand Junction. The company will be responsible for installing new Roof Top Units (RTUs), which provide both heating and cooling to the facility.
The replacement comes as the current units are 26 years old, exceeding the industry standard life expectancy of 20 years for RTUs. County officials noted that obtaining parts to repair the outdated system has become increasingly difficult in recent years.
The installation project is scheduled to begin at the end of February 2027 and is expected to take one to two months to complete.
