Woman Arrested for DUI and Attempted Assault

GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 25-year-old Clifton woman was arrested late Saturday night on multiple charges, including DUI and attempted assault, following a reckless driving incident at Las Colonias Park and a subsequent stop on Riverside Parkway.

On Saturday, August 15, at approximately 11:55 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to reports of an intoxicated driver on the Riverside Parkway.

Prior to the police response, 911 dispatchers received a call from bystanders who reported seeing a vehicle speeding through a parking lot at Las Colonias Park, located at 1251 Riverfront Drive. The driver reportedly struck a curb, causing the vehicle’s right front tire to go flat. During the incident, the driver allegedly threw an object toward the reporting party, causing damage to the bystander’s vehicle, before driving out of the park.

Officers later located the suspect vehicle in the 2700 block of Riverside Parkway.

The driver, identified as Courtney Duque, 25, of Clifton, was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility. She was booked on the following charges:

  • Attempted Second-Degree Assault – Deadly Weapon (2 Counts)
  • DUI – Drove Vehicle Under the Influence
  • Criminal Mischief – $2,000 to $5,000
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule I/II/III/IV/V)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Violation of a Protection Order
  • Driving Under Restraint
  • Careless Driving
  • No Insurance in Possession
