Woman Jailed on Meth Distribution Charges

CLIFTON, CO — A 51-year-old woman was arrested on felony drug distribution charges Monday evening following a traffic stop in Clifton.

On Monday, August 17, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 33 Road and Lombardy Lane.

Deputies contacted three adult females inside the vehicle. The driver, identified as Sarah Leonard, 51, was found to have an active arrest warrant and was operating the vehicle without a valid license. During a subsequent investigation and search of the vehicle, deputies located suspected methamphetamine.

Leonard was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where she is being held on a $300 personal recognizance bond and a $5,000 cash-only bond. She was booked on her active warrant and the following charges:

  • Distribution/Manufacture/Possession with Intent to Distribute (>1/2 oz to 1/2 lb of Schedule I/II) (Felony 2)
  • Driving After Revocation Prohibited – Habitual Traffic Offender (Misdemeanor)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Drug Petty Offense)
  • Stopped When Traffic Obstructed (Traffic Infraction)
  • Failure to Appear Warrant
