MESA COUNTY, CO — The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to numerous incidents over the weekend, resulting in five notable arrests between August 21 and August 23 for offenses ranging from vehicle trespass and identity theft to multiple domestic violence-related assaults.
Below is a recap of the weekend arrests:
Stolen Credit Card Leads to Trespass and Fraud Arrest
On Friday, August 21, at approximately 9:40 a.m., deputies were notified that a stolen credit card had been used at a business in the 2500 block of Rimrock Drive in Grand Junction, as well as at other nearby locations. The card was initially stolen from a vehicle in the 500 block of Colonial Drive.
By reviewing security footage, deputies identified the suspect and the vehicle he was driving. They later located the truck in the 2100 block of Saguaro Road and contacted Christian Russell, 24, of Grand Junction. A search of his person revealed the stolen cards. Russell was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Identity Theft – Possesses Information Without Permission (Felony 5)
- Theft – $2,000 to $5,000 (Felony 6)
- Unauthorized Use of a Financial Transaction Device (Felony 6)
- First-Degree Criminal Auto Trespass with Intent to Commit Crime (Misdemeanor 1)
- Theft from Motor Vehicle – Less than $300 (Petty Offense)
Mack Resident Arrested for Assault and Sexual Contact
On Saturday, August 22, at approximately 1:15 a.m., deputies responded to a physical assault in the 1500 block of 10 Road in Mack.
Investigators learned that Jiayi Liu, 38, physically assaulted another resident of the home and made unwanted sexual contact. Liu was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Unlawful Sexual Contact – Without Consent (Misdemeanor 1)
- Third-Degree Assault (Misdemeanor 1)
- Domestic Violence
Clifton Harassment Call Ends in Domestic Violence Arrest
Later on Saturday, at approximately 2:40 p.m., deputies responded to a harassment in progress in the 3200 block of West Willow Drive in Clifton. A female suspect arrived at the residence, banged on the door, and threatened the resident. When the resident stepped outside to ask her to leave, the suspect assaulted them and caused damage to their vehicle before fleeing.
Deputies located the suspect, Fransisca Dores, 46, of Clifton, and booked her into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Harassment – Strike, Shove, Kick (Misdemeanor 1)
- Criminal Mischief – $300 to $1,000 (Misdemeanor 2)
- Domestic Violence
Riverfront Trail Assault and Protection Order Violation
On Saturday, at approximately 6:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a harassment incident along the Riverfront Trail near 29 3/4 Road in Clifton. Deputies determined that Everett Hill, 36, of Grand Junction, threw an object at a female, attempted to physically assault her, and was verbally combative.
During his arrest, deputies located drug paraphernalia on his person. Hill was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Harassment – Follow Person in Public Place (Misdemeanor 1)
- Violation of a Protection Order (Misdemeanor 1)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Drug Petty Offense)
- Domestic Violence
Arrest Made for Attacking Housemates
On Sunday, August 23, at approximately 3:40 a.m., deputies responded to an assault in progress in the 17000 block of 45 1/2 Road in De Beque. The reporting party stated that a resident had attacked multiple other residents in the home while intoxicated.
Deputies noted multiple facial and bodily injuries on a victim that were consistent with the reported assault. Jaydan Barber, 21, of De Beque, was arrested and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Third-Degree Assault (Misdemeanor 1)
- Domestic Violence
