GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 46-year-old man was arrested Saturday morning on an active warrant, leading to the seizure of two firearms and nearly 42 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
On Saturday, August 29, at approximately 7:50 a.m., Grand Junction Police Department officers were on routine patrol when they contacted Chad Weaver, 46, standing next to a truck near the intersection of 29 1/2 Road and Patterson Road. Officers placed Weaver into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant.
During a subsequent search of Weaver and his vehicle, officers located suspected methamphetamine. Further investigation of the truck revealed two firearms, additional illicit drugs, and drug paraphernalia. In total, authorities seized close to 42 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
Weaver was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility where he was booked on his active warrant alongside the following additional charges:
- Special Circumstances – Defendant Possessed or Was Within Reach of a Deadly Weapon
- Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (>4g Schedule I/II)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
