WHITEWATER, CO — An 18-year-old Whitewater man was arrested Sunday after allegedly threatening a victim with a gun at the Whitewater Boat Ramp. Deputies also learned of an alleged prior assault involving the same victim.
On September 26, at approximately 11:25 p.m., Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of felony menacing at the boat ramp. The reporting party identified the suspect as Jacob McNeely, 18, of Whitewater.
According to investigators, McNeely located the victim and friends at the boat ramp and used his vehicle to block the victim’s path when they attempted to leave. He then allegedly approached the victim’s car on foot, brandished a gun and made threatening statements.
The victim attempted to run from the scene, but McNeely allegedly caught and physically restrained them. The victim was able to break free and return to their car.
During the investigation, deputies also learned that McNeely had allegedly assaulted the victim at a shared home on a previous occasion and prevented them from leaving.
An arrest warrant was issued on September 27. Deputies arrested McNeely that same day and transported him to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked on the following charges:
- Menacing with a Real or Simulated Weapon (Felony 5)
- Harassment — Striking, Shoving, Kicking or Otherwise Subjecting Someone to Physical Contact (Misdemeanor 1)
- False Imprisonment (Felony 5)
- Second-Degree Kidnapping (Felony 4)
- Second-Degree Assault with Injury — Intent to Cause Bodily Injury (Felony 4)
- Harassment — Repeated Telephone Calls (Misdemeanor 2)
