
GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 50-year-old Grand Junction man was arrested Thursday evening after allegedly assaulting an individual during a child custody exchange near Broadway and East Alcove Drive.
On October 1, at approximately 6:40 p.m., Mesa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an assault. Investigators learned that the suspect, identified as Eric Foote, 50, had reportedly assaulted the victim while exchanging custody of a child.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the child was present during the incident and was reportedly subjected to physical contact.
Deputies contacted Foote at a nearby residence, where he appeared highly intoxicated. Investigators also located evidence that the victim’s phone had been damaged during the altercation.

Foote was taken into custody and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was booked on the following charges:
- Third-Degree Assault (Misdemeanor 1)
- Domestic Violence (Four Counts)
- Child Abuse — Knowingly or Recklessly, No Injury (Misdemeanor 2)
- First-Degree Criminal Tampering (Misdemeanor 2)
- Criminal Mischief — Under $300 (Petty Offense)
