From the Grand Junction Police Department:
On January 14, 2025, at approximately 11:50 p.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to the 400 block of Morning Dove Street for a subject with a weapon. Reporting parties advised 911 dispatchers with the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center that a male had a weapon and was threatening to shoot others. Officers arrived on scene and attempted to contact the suspect, identified as James Duncan Sr, age 52, who entered the house and barricaded himself. A shelter in place was issued to 37 local residents.
A warrant for the arrest of Duncan was issued and the Grand Junction Police Department SWAT team was dispatched to assist. At approximately 7:05 a.m., on January 15, 2025, Duncan was taken into custody.
James Duncan Sr was remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following and other related charges:
- Menacing- Real/Simulated Weapon
- Retaliation Against a Witness or Victim
- Obstructing a Peace Officer
The Grand Junction Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing danger to the public. There is no further information at this time.
