The Grand Junction Police Department is identifying the officer involved in the officer involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, January 19, 2025. The officer discharged his duty weapon during this incident.
Officer Toby Baldwinย is a United States Army veteran and has been a Grand Junction Police Officer for nearly three years, following nine years of prior law enforcement experience. Officer Baldwin currently serves as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, and Firearms Instructor.
As is standard protocol with any officer involved shooting, the officer is currently on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of an internal investigation which takes place separately from the criminal investigation being conducted by the 21st Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team. This incident remains under investigation by CIRT.
