
Kitchen fire originating from the stove at a home on Texas Avenue west of 28 Road. Fire crews arrived to find smoking coming from the residence and quickly extinguished the main fire. Responders are now seeing smoke in the ceiling and attic areas of the home and are working to put that fire out.

Grand Junction, CO โ At 3:18 p.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department (GJFD) responded to a reported residential structure fire on the 2500 block of Texas Avenue. The resident called 9-1-1 and stated a cooking fire got out of control, producing smoke and flames.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered an active fire that had spread to the attic. Crews worked quickly to extinguish the flames and cut holes in the roof to allow heat and smoke to exit the home. During operations, firefighters safely rescued a small dog from the home without injury.
Two adults and their dog have been displaced because of the fire. The American Red Cross has been requested to provide assistance. The Grand Junction Police Department supported the response by ensuring scene safety and managing traffic control.
