
Deputies have a female suspect in custody after crashing into a sheriff vehicle and crashing into a fence near Clifton Nature Park on D Road and 32 1/2 Road.

CLIFTON, COLORADO – At approximately 8:30 a.m. on April 9, 2025, Deputies received a report of a female driver actively throwing trash out of her car window in the Clifton Nature Park parking area near D Road and 32 ยผ Road. The female driver began to yell at the reporting party, who retreated from the scene.
As the first responding Deputy entered the parking lot, the female driver attempted to flee. In the process, she deliberately drove head on into a second responding Sergeant. The driver then backed into the first Deputyโs vehicle again, before turning and striking a parked, unassociated car. The driver then attempted to drive through the fence surrounding the parking lot before assisting Deputies pinned the vehicle in place.
The driver initially refused to exit the vehicle but was assisted out after a short standoff.
The driver has been identified as Nicole Carpenter (32) of Grand Junction, Colorado. She is associated with two incidents in the prior month. She was taken into custody and has been booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- Littering, Civil Infraction
- Driving with Revoked License – Aggravated, Traffic 1
- Reckless Endangerment, Misdemeanor 2
- Reckless Endangerment, Misdemeanor 2
- Reckless Endangerment, Misdemeanor 2
- Reckless Driving, Traffic 2
- Vehicular Eluding, Felony 3
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Petty Offense
- Unlawful Possession <4G of a Controlled Substance, Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, Flunitrazepam, Ketamine, GHB, Drug Misdemeanor 1
- Criminal Mischief $5,000 or More, Less Than $20,000, Felony 5
- Resisting Arrest, Misdemeanor 2
- Obstructing a Peace Officer, Misdemeanor 2
- 2nd Degree Criminal Trespass, Petty Offense
- Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Misdemeanor 1
- Forgery, Felony 5
- Parole Violation
The damages to the fence are estimated at approximately $3,000. Two Patrol vehicles were also damaged during the incident, however, no one was hurt.
