From the Grand Junction Fire Department:

At 2:38 p.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to Mother Teresa Place at 301 S 4th Street after the building’s fire suppression system detected smoke. While crews were en route, 9-1-1 dispatchers confirmed with an occupant that smoke was visible coming from a vent inside the building.

GJFD responded with a full structure fire assignment. Upon arrival, firefighters found that the building had been safely evacuated and observed light smoke present.

The crew from Station 6 used Tower 6 to access the roof, where they quickly identified the source of the smoke: a faulty belt in an air conditioning unit. Fortunately, there was no active fire in the building.
