On August 18, 2025, at around 11:45 a.m., officers responded to a burglary in progress on the 2600 block of Dahlia Drive in Mesa County. The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Rachael Brakey, allegedly broke a window at her ex-boyfriend’s home and damaged a vehicle in the driveway. After locating Brakey in a dirt lot on the 2700 block of H Road, officers attempted to arrest her. Brakey fled at high speed, initiating a brief pursuit before stopping and charging at officers. She was safely taken into custody without further incident

Brakey was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on multiple charges, including 2nd Degree Burglary, Vehicular Eluding, 1st Degree Criminal Trespass, Criminal Mischief, Theft, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Domestic Violence. Authorities believe this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community.
