Shooting, N 23rd St & Bunting Ave

Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of possible shots-fired in the area of Bunting Avenue and N 23rd Street on 07/04/23, at approximately 11:15 p.m. Officers learned a male and a female had been involved in a verbal dispute when the male fired a gun into the air. The male, later identified as David Jackson (age 37), was located later in a nearby residence where he was taken into custody. There were no injuries in this incident. Jackson was remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility where he was charged with the following:

  • Menacing
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Prohibited Use of a Weapon
  • Child Abuse
  • Unlawfully Carrying a Concealed Weapon

The Grand Junction Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing danger to the community. There is no further information available.
