Surveilled CBI Suspect Captured by Police

Grand Junction Police captured a suspect that was being surveilled by Colorado Bureau of Investigation agents. The incident started in the area North 12th Street and North Avenue with the suspect running behind various apartment complexes, then the alleyway behind Taco Bell, eventually ending with his capture at Teller Avenue and North 7th Street.

Suspect was possibly wanted by CBI for a felony menacing involving a gun earlier in the day. A parole agent was involved, and the suspect might have been GPS monitored in some way. The backpack that was ditched by the suspect during the foot pursuit possibly contains drugs and a gun.

At 3:39 PM, PD primaries on Code 1 air in the areas of Wendy’s, North Avenue for a foot pursuit at 1539. The suspect was last seen in front of the stadium on North Avenue;

Starting around 3:46 PM, officers pursued a suspect westbound in the alley behind Taco Bell; unmarked units were to assist with a takedown. The suspect was described as wearing ripped blue jeans and a black long-sleeve shirt; last seen heading north away from Glenwood toward Taco Bell. The suspect ditched a backpack behind an apartment complex; CBI agents on scene with the backpack, and a possible gun mentioned.
