Three Arrested in Fruita Homicide Investigation

FRUITA, Colo. – Three young adults are in jail after Fruita police and the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office linked them to a homicide inside Fruita city limits.

Officers and deputies responded on November 22, 2025, to a reported suspicious incident in the 21 Road desert area. During the investigation, they developed information that a homicide had occurred in Fruita and identified several people of interest.

Detectives later arrested:

  • Weston Owen, 18
  • Sarah Bess, 18
  • Kellar Weisgerber, 21

All three are booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility in Grand Junction. They face multiple felony charges, including:

  • Murder in the first degree (Class 1 felony)
  • Tampering with physical evidence (Class 6 felony)
  • Abuse of a corpse (Class 6 felony)
  • Conspiracy (Class 2 felony)

Police say there are no outstanding suspects and no known threats to the community. Jail records showed all three still in custody as of Sunday afternoon.

The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and determine the cause and manner of death. Investigators have not released further details about the case or upcoming court dates.
