A single-vehicle crash was reported around 5:47 p.m. on I-70 near the Rabbit Valley Road overpass. Fire and EMS units, including Engine 32 and Squad 31 (assigned as I-70 command), responded to the scene and Colorado State Patrol was notified.
Radio traffic indicates a white Chevy van crashed into the median about a half-mile east of the overpass. The call was from a passing motorist and dispatch had limited information; the number and condition of any patients were unknown during the transmissions. Engine 32 established traffic protection and Ambulance 31 was routed to St. Mary’s with lights and sirens. Crews checked on CareFlight availability but ultimately canceled the air response.
