Residential Structure Fire, Area of A 1/2 RD & 30 RD Orchard Mesa

Residential structure caught fire in the area of A 1/2 Rd & 30 Rd in Orchard Mesa just north of Hwy 50. Everyone in the home evacuated out of the structure safely. The home suffered extensive damage as the fire spread to the attic. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for injuries.

This morning at 1:28 a.m. Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a report of a home fire on the 100 block of 30 road. A neighbor called 9-1-1 to report a fire on the roof of a home. Arriving on scene, fire crews found the home was safely evacuated and were able to locate and extinguish a fire in the attic of the home. The American Red Cross is assisting two adults and a small dog who were displaced from the home. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries and has been treated and released. The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
