Three Grand Junction residents were arrested Thursday evening after the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Major Offender Task Force (MOTF) located a wanted parole absconder inside a hotel room and uncovered a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine along with a handgun and ammunition.

According to the sheriff’s office, investigators received information on December 18, 2025, that Jason Soper, 38, was staying at a hotel in the 700 block of Horizon Drive. Soper was wanted for absconding from parole following a multi-year conviction involving multiple drug and weapons offenses.

Around 7:00 p.m., members of the MOTF attempted to contact Soper in a hotel room. After repeated loud-hail announcements, Soper exited the room and was taken into custody without incident. Two other adults inside the room—Kyle Billings, 38, and Saleah Campbell, 29—were also arrested without incident.

During a search of the room, deputies found more than three-quarters of a pound of a white crystalline substance preliminarily identified as methamphetamine. Investigators also recovered drug-distribution paraphernalia, a handgun, and several hundred rounds of ammunition.
