Structure fire reported at the 29 Mile Apartments, 2915 Orchard Avenue. Fire and EMS crews and Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies responded after multiple callers reported smoke and a stove fire in a unit in Building H.
Police kicked a door and removed a female occupant from the apartment and were evacuating the 3rd floor. Command ordered a road shutdown at 29 1/4 Road near the complex.
Update: Crews have the primary stove fire extinguished and are checking for any extension. Firefighters on the roof report nothing has spread.
Update: Responders are continuing to thoroughly check neighboring apartments to make sure nothing has spread beyond the primary fire. Crews are working on ventilating smoke from the building, have given primary and secondary “all clear”.
