A vehicle versus pole crash was reported at the Highway 6&50 overpass at North Avenue. Grand Junction Police and EMS responded after a brown pickup struck a utility pole, came to rest in a ditch and left the pole down, possibly blocking the roadway. Witnesses reported the driver had a head injury and was not conscious. Another report stated the driver possibly drove off and then struck a tree. Officers noted that 3 other vehicles possibly struck the pole that was laying down across the roadway on the overpass.
Police have moved the pole out of the roadway and have traffic flowing again. Officers requested a tow truck for a secondary vehicle that struck the downed pole.
