Police Arrest Barricaded Male for Felony Menacing

Oliver Anderson, age 49, was arrested and charged with Felony Menacing, Domestic Violence, and other related charges.

From the Grand Junction Police Department:

Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a verbal dispute in the area of N 13th Street and Glenwood Avenue on 08/17/24, at approximately 1:30 a.m. A male and female were involved in a verbal dispute in the parking lot of an apartment complex, when the male retrieved a gun from his vehicle and a felony menacing occurred. There were no injuries. The male retreated into his apartment and barricaded himself. SWAT operators from the Grand Junction Police Department and Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and the GJPD Crisis Negotiation Team were on scene to assist. After several hours of remaining uncooperative, the male exited the apartment and was taken into custody at approximately 6:00 a.m. Oliver Anderson, age 49, was arrested and charged with Felony Menacing, Domestic Violence, and other related charges.

The Grand Junction Police Department believes this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the public. This incident remains under investigation and there is no further information available at this time.
