Man Arrested After Disturbance on Pear Lane

GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 26-year-old man is facing multiple charges, including strangulation and child abuse, following a domestic disturbance that escalated into physical violence late Tuesday night.

At approximately 11:10 p.m. on March 17, 2026, Grand Junction Police officers responded to an assault in progress at a residence in the 400 block of Pear Lane. Dispatchers with the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center had received an open line call where a male and female could be heard engaged in a possible physical altercation.

Upon arrival, officers observed a female inside the home crying while a male yelled at her. After officers identified themselves as law enforcement, they saw the male through a window holding a firearm. The suspect, who was believed to be intoxicated, was safely taken into custody, and the weapon was recovered.

During the investigation, officers learned that the incident began as a verbal dispute between the man and woman while they were driving with a child in the vehicle. The argument then escalated into a physical assault once they arrived at the residence. The female victim was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated for her injuries.

The suspect, identified as Jason Gallegos, 26, was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Prohibited Use of a Weapon
  • 3rd Degree Assault
  • Harassment
  • Domestic Violence
