
COLLBRAN, CO — A multi-agency response is underway to combat the Brushy Ridge Fire (Brush Creek Fire), a growing wildland blaze that reached an estimated 100 acres outside of Collbran on Thursday evening.
At approximately 5:50 p.m. on March 26, 2026, the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center received multiple reports of a fire in the area of 64 3/10 Road. Deputies from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and the De Beque Marshall’s Office responded to investigate the source of the fire, while numerous regional fire agencies were quickly dispatched to begin battling the flames.
Fire crews from Plateau Valley, Palisade, Clifton, Grand Junction, De Beque, and Grand Valley are all assisting in the containment efforts. Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Rich Acree officially assumed incident command of the Brushy Ridge Fire at 7:40 p.m. Thursday.
As of a 10:45 p.m. update, officials stated the fire was measuring at 100 acres. Authorities confirmed that no structures are currently threatened by the blaze. However, crews are actively working to shut off and secure multiple gas and oil pads located in the immediate vicinity of the fire.
To ensure the safety of first responders and the continuity of firefighting efforts, a road closure has been implemented on 64 3/10 Road, beginning at the intersection of Highway 330 East. The road will remain closed until further notice.
Additional support is expected to arrive Friday morning, March 27. The Mesa County Wildland Fire Team will deploy alongside critical aviation resources, including a Type 1 helicopter, large air tankers, and Type 2 initial attack crews.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office continues to monitor the Brushy Ridge Fire and will release further updates as the situation develops.
