A train engine fire was reported around 6:33 p.m. on the railroad between I-70 and North River Road. Palisade Fire and mutual aid unit Engine 21 from Clifton Fire responded.
Radio traffic indicated the 93-car freight train had been evacuated and there were no injuries reported. The engine fire was quickly contained. No smoke or flames could be seen from the roadside. Palisade and Clifton units remained on scene to investigate and ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
