
COLLBRAN, CO — The Brushy Ridge Fire burning outside of Collbran has reached 50% containment. As of Sunday, March 29, 2026, the wildfire located along 64 3/10 Road is half contained. Fire officials report that smoke is no longer visible in the area, and any remaining interior heat poses no threat to the surrounding landscape or nearby infrastructure.
With the fire’s behavior significantly reduced, Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Rich Acree transferred incident command to Plateau Valley Fire Department Chief Kevin Henderson. This transition marks the official end of the Sheriff’s Office’s delegation and management of the Brushy Ridge Fire.
Moving forward, the Plateau Valley Fire Department will handle the remaining operations and continue to monitor the fire until the incident is fully closed.
