
GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a severe two-vehicle crash from November 2025 that left another driver with life-threatening injuries.
On Thursday, April 2, 2026, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department contacted and arrested Jonathan Burt, 35, taking him into custody without incident following an extensive investigation.
The arrest stems from a serious collision that occurred on November 30, 2025, at the intersection of Patterson Road and 29 Road. According to police, Burt was driving a truck eastbound on Patterson Road at a high rate of speed when he collided with a passenger car that was turning southbound onto 29 Road.
The driver of the passenger car sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. Authorities confirmed on Thursday that the victim remains hospitalized.
Following a thorough investigation, officers determined that Burt was intoxicated and in possession of a handgun at the time of the collision, leading to a warrant for his arrest. Burt was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility and booked on the following charges:
- Vehicular Assault While Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol
- Vehicular Assault While Driving in a Reckless Manner
- Prohibited Use of a Weapon
