A vehicle drove into the Smoker Friendly store on Highway 50 in Orchard Mesa shortly after 8:50 p.m. Grand Junction Police and fire/EMS units were dispatched and responded with lights and sirens.
Radio traffic indicated a pickup truck was completely inside the building, was smoking and a male driver was inside the vehicle. Callers reported the vehicle struck a light pole and several other cars prior to driving through the store. The driver was described as a 30-year-old male who was unconscious but breathing and remained inside the vehicle; officers called the incident a possible DUI and requested additional units. Officers administered Narcan as EMS crews arrived on scene.
Smoker Friendly was closed at the time of the incident. Driver was transported to a local hospital.
