GRAND JUNCTION, CO — At 8:52 p.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched to the 570 block of Placer Street after multiple 9-1-1 callers reported the structure was on fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions with flames actively breaching the roof of the home.

Crews immediately initiated an interior search of the residence to ensure all occupants had safely evacuated. To combat the blaze, firefighters deployed two aerial ladder trucks to access the roof and extinguish the fire burning within the concealed attic spaces.

Two juveniles were transported from the scene to receive medical care for non-life-threatening injuries. The fire ultimately displaced one adult, the two juveniles, and a family dog.

The official origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the incident to assist with traffic control and scene safety.
