Structure fire reported in the 1800 block of Frontage Road north of Adobe Parkway and 18 1/2 Road. Multiple callers reported a garage with flames visible at the roof. Callers gave conflicting reports on whether the garage was detached or attached to the main house, and dispatch traffic indicated it was unknown if anyone was inside.
The garage is fully involved and Lower Valley Fire has requested mutual aid from Grand Junction Fire Department. Crew are working to extinguish the main fire and also attempting to cool down a large propane tank that is venting pressure. Law enforcement evacuated the neighboring structures for safety. Radio traffic indicates the fire had spread to the main residence and several out-buildings.
Update 12:50 p.m.: Fire crews have the blaze under control and will continue working to fully extinguish. The Red Cross was contacted to assist 4 individuals and 2 pets who are displaced by this fire. No injuries are currently reported.
