Woman Arrested After Barricading Herself Inside Clifton Home

CLIFTON, CO — A 47-year-old Grand Junction woman was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly breaking a window to enter a Clifton home and barricading herself inside, according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

On April 15, 2026, at approximately 5:45 a.m., deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress in the 3200 block of E 1/2 Road. A neighbor had called authorities after observing a female suspect breaking a window and entering a nearby residence.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies located the woman inside the house. After contacting the property owner, who confirmed that no one should be inside, deputies received permission to enter the residence and remove the suspect, identified as Krystal Rash, 47.

Authorities stated that Rash barricaded herself inside a room in the house. Deputies were ultimately able to forcefully open the door and safely take her into custody.

Rash was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where she is being held on the following charges:

  • Second-degree burglary of a dwelling (Felony 3)
  • Criminal mischief – $300-$1000 (Misdemeanor 2)
  • Resisting arrest (Misdemeanor 2)
  • Obstructing a peace officer, firefighter, or emergency medical personnel (Misdemeanor 2)
  • Failure or refusal to leave premises or property upon request of a peace officer (Misdemeanor 2)
