Fire crews and police responded about 8:27 p.m. to reports of a tent and trees on fire behind the Pepsi-Cola plant at 140 Power Road, with radio traffic placing the scene north of 2532 Broadway near a dirt landing. Grand Junction police were dispatched to assist fire personnel.
Callers reported the fire was spreading into nearby trees and that a woman at the scene apologized for starting it, though callers could not provide a description. A Grand Junction brush truck was also dispatched.
Update: Brush crews made contact with several individuals by the river that said the fire was put out prior to arrival. Fire crews are clearing the scene.
