Fire and EMS units responded about 2:38 p.m. to a reported brush fire near a home in the 600 block of Pioneer Road. A neighbor told dispatch the resident was burning items and the fire had spread to a tree near a fence and a shed.

On-scene radio traffic later reported smoke in the backyard and a dead tree smoldering with no visible flames, and crews said the house did not appear to be in jeopardy. A deputy reported an elderly man lying on his back in the backyard who was conscious and breathing and needed medical assistance; deputies were attempting to access the backyard while fire crews investigated and established command.

Emergency crews are tending to an elderly male and extinguishing a smoldering tree. With no structure fire, most units are clearing the scene and returning to stations.
