Suspect Nabbed for Theft From Vehicle

GRAND JUNCTION, CO — A 38-year-old man was arrested late last week after allegedly cutting through a residential fence to steal items from a vehicle earlier this month, according to the Grand Junction Police Department.

On April 16, 2026, at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Winters Avenue for a report of a trespass in progress. While in the area, an officer was flagged down by a resident who reported that an individual was trespassing on their property.

Through their investigation, officers determined the suspect had cut a hole in a fence to gain access to the property, entered a parked vehicle, and stole multiple items. The suspect fled the area before police arrived, but investigators later identified him as 38-year-old Andrew Anderson.

On April 24, at approximately 4:40 p.m., officers located Anderson near South 7th Street and Noland Avenue. Anderson attempted to flee from police but was quickly taken into custody. At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of evidence directly connected to the April 16 incident.

Anderson was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants and transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility, where he was additionally booked on the following charges:

  • Theft from a Motor Vehicle ($5,000 – $20,000)
  • First-Degree Criminal Trespass with Intent to Commit a Crime
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Second-Degree Criminal Trespass (Enclosed/Fenced Property)
  • Second-Degree Criminal Tampering
