MESA COUNTY, CO — The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office reported a busy weekend following a series of arrests that included a significant methamphetamine seizure, the recovery of a stolen camper, and an armed domestic violence incident.

Here is a summary of the weekend arrests detailed by the Sheriff’s Office:

Clifton Drug Seizure and Warrant Arrests

On the morning of Saturday, April 25, deputies made two unrelated arrests in the 3200 block of F Road in Clifton.

In the first incident, a deputy noticed an adult male asleep in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle. While looking in, the deputy observed drug paraphernalia in plain view. Deputies woke the driver, identified as 59-year-old Michael Lenahan of Grand Junction, by banging on the window. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded large sums of cash and more than 560 grams of suspected methamphetamine, carrying an estimated street value of $1,700.

Lenahan was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Distribution With Intent Schedule I/II (Felony 1)
  • Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule I/II (Felony 4)
  • Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor 2)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Petty Offense)

In the second, unrelated arrest at the same location, deputies contacted 36-year-old Everett Hill, who is unhoused. During the interaction, deputies found Hill in possession of an ax, various drug paraphernalia, and suspected prescription pills that were not prescribed to him. Investigators also discovered Hill had six outstanding warrants and an active restraining order prohibiting him from possessing weapons.

Hill was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility without incident on the following charges:

  • Failure to Appear Warrants (5 counts)
  • Fugitive Other Jurisdiction Warrant (1 count)
  • Violation of a Protection Order (Misdemeanor 2)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Petty Offense)

Whitewater Stolen Property Recovery

Separately on Saturday morning, at approximately 10:30 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the Tabeguache Trail area in Whitewater to recover stolen property.

Deputies contacted an adult male and female inside a camper. The pair claimed they had purchased the camper just days prior; however, they could not provide a title, bill of sale, or any documentation or communication to prove the transaction. Additionally, deputies located an ATV on the campsite that had been spray-painted, seemingly to obscure its identification numbers.

The male, identified as 34-year-old Ty Morgan of Palisade, was arrested without incident. During the booking process at the Mesa County Detention Facility, Morgan alerted deputies that he had hidden less than four grams of methamphetamine inside his sock.

Morgan was booked on the following charges:

  • Theft $20,000 – $100,000 (Felony 4)
  • Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule I/II (Misdemeanor 1)
  • Altering Identification Number / VIN (Misdemeanor 2)
  • Display/Possess Altered Fictitious Tab, Title, Sticker, or Plate (Traffic Offense)

Grand Junction Armed Domestic Violence

On Friday, April 24, at approximately 6:15 p.m., patrol deputies responded to the 2900 block of North Avenue in Grand Junction for a reported domestic violence incident.

Investigators suspect an argument broke out between an adult male and an adult female while an elementary-aged child was present in the residence. As the argument escalated, 31-year-old Brandon Myers of Grand Junction allegedly threatened the woman with a kitchen knife.

Myers was arrested without incident and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Menacing with a Real/Simulated Weapon (Felony 5)
