
Grand Junction Police responded after callers reported a man carrying a gun and pointing it at people in the area of North 18th Street and North Avenue.
Radio traffic described the suspect as a Hispanic male wearing no shirt and black pants. A female with him was described as wearing a blue-and-white striped shirt and black pants. Witnesses said the male was running on the east side of North Avenue, moving eastbound past the Village Inn. Another witness stated the male possibly pistol whipped the female that was with him.
There is a heavy police presence at Frontier Motor Lodge a block away from the original incident.
Update 10:30 p.m.: Officers have a male suspect safely in custody.
