De Beque Fire and a De Beque marshal responded to a brushfire on eastbound I-70 at mile marker 63 after multiple callers reported smoke and flames near the roadway. Radio traffic indicated the fire initially measured about 50 by 50 feet but, driven by wind, grew to roughly half an acre as it pushed east into heavier fuels.
Engine 82 and Brush 92 were among the resources dispatched, and a BLM truck was reported en route. Dispatch also paged additional tender and brush resources. Law enforcement and CDOT were assisting with traffic control. No injuries were reported.
According to CDOT, the right eastbound lane is closed and slower speeds are advised when traveling through the area.
Details are based on live scanner traffic and may change as official information is released.
