Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies responded shortly after 2:20 p.m. to reports of an armed man in the desert near the dam by 27 1/4 Road. Callers told dispatch a male had displayed a pistol and was driving a black Ford truck.
Deputies broadcast a high-risk stop near the Motel 6 and removed the driver from the vehicle; he was reported compliant at gunpoint and taken into custody. Radio traffic indicated the truck had been traveling southbound on 27 1/4 Road toward the airport prior to the stop. No injuries were reported.
