MESA COUNTY, CO — Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies arrested several individuals over the weekend of July 17–19, 2026, in connection with domestic violence, stolen property, assault, and drug offenses.
Arrest Made Following Repeated Harassment and Threats
On Friday, July 17, deputies responded to a harassment report in the 500 block of Garfield Drive in Grand Junction. Investigators found that Brandon Laird, 32, of Grand Junction, had repeatedly attempted to contact and threaten the victim overnight and into the morning.
Laird was taken into custody without incident on Garfield Drive and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility. He faces charges of Misdemeanor Menacing, Misdemeanor Harassment (Repeat Phone Calls), and Domestic Violence.
Suspect Arrested for Theft From Auto and Pawn Fraud
Deputies arrested Eric Girten, 42, of Clifton, on Friday following an investigation into a June 2 theft from auto on Ladore Street where multiple high-value tools were reported missing from a vehicle.
Through their investigation, deputies tracked the stolen tools to a local pawn shop and identified Girten as the suspect. He was arrested without incident on an outstanding warrant and charged with two counts of First-Degree Criminal Auto Trespass, two counts of Theft ($300–$1,000), and two counts of Pawnbroker Act Violations (False Information by Seller).
Fruita Man Arrested for Assault in Front of Child
On Friday, July 17, deputies responded to a reported assault in the 500 block of 20 1/2 Road in Grand Junction. During the investigation, deputies observed injuries on the victim consistent with an assault and learned a child was present during the incident. The suspect, Saylor Haralson, 24, of Fruita, had already left the scene.
Deputies later located and detained Haralson at a residence in Fruita. He was transported to the Mesa County Detention Facility and charged with Third-Degree Assault, Domestic Violence, and Child Abuse (Recklessly/No Injury).
Woman Arrested Following Sunday Domestic Assault
On Sunday, July 19, deputies responded to a report of an assault in the 500 block of 29 Road in Grand Junction. Deputies located the victim a short distance away with visible fresh injuries.
The suspect, identified as Kacie Gulliford, 37, of Grand Junction, was contacted at the original residence and taken into custody without incident. She was booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on charges of Third-Degree Assault and Domestic Violence.
Traffic Stop Yields Drugs and Stolen Financial Info
On Sunday, July 19, deputies pulled over a vehicle in the 3100 block of Mesa Avenue after the driver ran a stop sign. Both occupants exited the car without being directed to do so and attempted to walk away. Deputies quickly placed both men in custody.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered illicit drugs, drug paraphernalia, and stolen financial information. The driver, Felix Maldonado, 31, of Grand Junction, was charged with Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving After Revocation Prohibited (Habitual Traffic Offender), No Insurance, Open Marijuana Container in Vehicle, and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.
His passenger, Cody Quintana, 33, of Clifton, was charged with Criminal Possession or Sale of a Blank Financial Transaction Device (Class 6 Felony), Obstructing a Peace Officer, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
