MESA COUNTY, CO — The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver killed in a fiery wrong-way crash on Interstate 70 near the Utah border earlier this week.
Briana Brink, 32, of Colorado Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene following the head-on collision.
According to a media release issued Wednesday by the coroner’s office, an autopsy has been completed. The official cause of death was determined to be injuries sustained in the motor vehicle crash.
Brink was driving an automobile eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-70 when she collided with another vehicle. Previous reports from the Colorado State Patrol indicated she was driving a Subaru Outback that struck a Ford F-150, resulting in serious injuries to the six occupants of the truck.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
